Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

This multi-country, 3-year project aims to provide youth in the six countries with gender-sensitive life skills and global citizenship education. This initiative aims to reach the most vulnerable youth by providing high quality education content, therefore urging them to explore social concepts such as identity, community norms and socio-economic status. With a great emphasis on gender equality, we intend to engage with educators, practitioners, and government institutions in an effort to advocate for, integrate, and build gender sensitive Global Citizenship Education in local programming at scale. The project follows 3 pathways to bring about the desired change: building the capacity of Civil Society Organizations, improving the access to quality life skills and global citizenship education programmes, and integrating gender-sensitive GCED components and domains in national discussions and curricula.

Expected Achievements:

72,000 youth in Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Nepal and Pakistan are socially and economically empowered by equipping them with gender-sensitive global citizenship skills and behaviors. Project partners aim to support youth in the creation of approximately 414 youth-led initiatives, categorized under 4 of ROTA’s GCED Action Areas: peace building and conflict resolution, climate action, community development, and Youth leadership.
