Access to Education and Humanitarian Actors

The report summarizes the discussions at a workshop which brought together participants from the ICRC and other components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and education experts, including donors, with experience in both the humanitarian and development fields. The objective was to improve humanitarian support for the continuity of education in areas affected by armed conflict and violence, in line with the principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence, and in both the short and long term. The workshop supported efforts to make a greater contribution to the resumption and continuity of education and support peer exchanges on legal, protection and operational challenges relating to the continuity of education in humanitarian settings and across the humanitarian–development nexus.
