Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

In April 2017, the ROTA Volunteer Program coordinated an international volunteer trip for female students from Qatar University to conduct workshops for young adults from the Charicot and Dolakha regions, as recommended by in-country partner, Action Aid Nepal. The volunteers conducted intensive, interactive peer-to-peer sessions, covering Leadership and Communication Skills, Creative Thinking (Entrepreneurship), Cultural Exchange, and English Language.

The 4 volunteer-led 1-day workshops were delivered to a total of 72 Nepali students over 4 days. The Nepali youth (aged 14-17 years), who represented two local schools, the Shree Jana Jyoti Higher Secondary School and the Shree Tripura Sundary Basic School, were divided into groups of 4 and rotated on a daily basis. On the fifth day, the volunteers and youth organized a workshop, exhibition and closing ceremony where the deliverables from the week were presented.
