IVT Indonesia CNA-Q Volunteer Trip 2018
Project Status

In response to a May 2006 earthquake that hit the Klaten District of Indonesia, Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) responded by supporting the construction of a modern vocational school in the village of Bayat in collaboration with the Titian Foundation. This intervention was designed to further the development of education in Bayat and the surrounding villages by offering access to subjects in IT, entrepreneurship, English and local craft specialisation in batik and ceramics.
The school curriculum was developed to preserve the regions heritage and create more opportunities for the students and their families to contribute to the development of the Klaten District. The school opened its doors to students in July 2009 with the official inauguration taking place in December 2009.
From 2009-2016, ROTA also supported a Scholarship Program, a School Capacity Building Program, a Local Arts Program called ‘Indoartamiks’ and a Teacher Quality Improvement Program for the whole Klaten District.
While ROTA’s strategic partnership with the Titian Foundation officially ended in July 2016, the Volunteer Program will continue to coordinate volunteer trips to schools in the Klaten District of Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Titian Foundation.
