Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Educate A Child Partnership

Educate A Child (EAC) has partnered with UNHCR to bring quality primary education to refugee children in 12 priority countries.

The EAC Partnership project with UNHCR seeks to provide quality primary education to refugee children.  Refugee children are some of the most marginalized when it comes to accessing primary education as they have been forced from their homes, into a foreign country, often with a different language.

EAC supports UNHCRs new education strategy that reflects the priorities of refugee populations by strengthening education’s place as a core component of UNHCR’s international protection and durable solutions mandate.

EAC and UNHCR contributed equivalent matched funds and collaborate to ensure that about 176,000 children receive quality primary schooling in 2012.  The second year of partnership concentrates on maintaining the gains made by retaining the 176,000 children enrolled in 2012, and enrolling an additional 50,000 children.”

The on-going partnership with UNHCR will ensure quality education for over 200,000 refugee children.  These children have been forced from their homes and into a foreign country and are some of the most marginalized when it comes to accessing primary education. UNHCR and EAC’s shared commitment to children in the most extreme circumstances help to ensure that all children in crisis situations have the opportunity to gain from the benefits of basic education.
