DRC and EAA's Internet Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB)
Project Status
DRC Greece’s education program for children and youth was designed to complement and support students’ attendance in formal Greek schools while ensuring that quality learning opportunities were accessible to all. The program helped students develop the skills needed to succeed academically while also addressing the social and emotional aspects of learning. Its structure, routines, and activities not only reinforced academic growth but also provided protection, community, and psychosocial support.
To achieve this, DRC Greece offered holistic educational support, drawing on both online resources and Education Above All’s Internet-Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB). These resources were adapted to meet students’ needs with the guidance of teachers trained in intercultural education. Support was provided to refugee and asylum-seeking children residing in Open Accommodation Sites (OASs) as well as in urban areas. The program also distributed differentiated learning packages to ensure meaningful access to education and used the Activity Bank for Disabilities to provide tailored materials for students with specific learning needs.
The program was implemented during the COVID-19 crisis, which further highlighted the importance of accessible and flexible learning opportunities.
