Afghan Girls Thrive
Project Status
This initiative aims to bridge the skills gap among Afghan women and girls worldwide through a large-scale online upskilling programme designed in partnership with Coursera and Alight. The project will provide 120,000 Afghan female adolescents, youth, and adults with access to flexible online learning opportunities that support dignified livelihoods, further education, and improved employability.
Recognizing the diverse educational backgrounds of beneficiaries, the programme will offer courses in language, digital literacy, business, career readiness, and other essential skills, while also enabling access to selected Coursera content fully translated into Dari and Pashto. By combining accessibility, flexibility, and market-relevant learning pathways, the initiative will allow participants to tailor their educational journeys to their individual goals and the demands of the global labour market.
