Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Aide et Action is an international, non-government organization with headquarters in Geneva of Switzerland. AEAI runs 119 projects in 25 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. It provides education to 3.5 million children and adults every year. This project will be implemented by the Cambodian Consortium for Out of School Children, a 22-member group consisting of leading development partners including international and local NGOs, researchers, and international experts and organizations, all partnering with communities to reduce barriers to primary education for vulnerable groups. Members include Advocacy Policy Institute, Aide et Action Cambodia, Bandos Komar, Buddhism for Social Development Action, Cambodian Organization for Children and Development (COCD), CARE Cambodia, Damnok Toek, DEV KHMER, Disability Development Services Program (DDSP), Epic Arts, Kampuchea Action for Primary Education, Komar Pikar Foundation, NGO Education Partnership, Non-Timber Forest Products, OCKENDEN, Opérations Enfant du Cambodge (OEC), Plan International, Pour un Sourire d’Enfant, Rabbit School Organization, Save the Children, Sovann Phoum and Youth Star Cambodia.

Its mission is to advance the cause of Education for All, especially primary education, for vulnerable populations whose fundamental right to education is not respected or is in jeopardy.

AEAI has been active in Cambodia since 2003. Its work in Cambodia focuses on four priority themes: Access to Quality Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, Education for Girls and Women, and Inclusive Education. AEAI’s approach places great importance on the role of local stakeholders—people, communities and authorities—by actively engaging them in consultation processes and developing leadership capacity enabling meaningful and sustainable change. AEAI influences education policies in the formal and non-formal sectors by strengthening teaching methodologies, advocacy; building capacities of education staff.

In partnership with EAC, Aide et Action is leading a consortium of 17 national and international organizations to reach 59,592 out of school children with quality education programs.  The Education for All: An Integrated Approach project will work in all 24 provinces of Cambodia and seeks to reach the most marginalized children to ensure that they receive a quality primary education.
