ROTA Kick Starts Wheels 'n' Heels 2010 Community Fun Day
Sheraton Park venue for 5th & 6th November sports and entertainment festival
Qatar-based NGO Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) is hoping a record crowd of more than 10,000 supporters will participate in the Wheels 'n' Heels Community Fun Day 2010 taking place over two days, Friday 5th November and Saturday 6th November at the Sheraton Park, Doha Corniche.
During a press conference held at the Knowledge Enrichment Center, ROTA Board Member H.E. Sheikha Aisha bint Falah Al Thani was joined by representatives from Wheels 'n' Heels 2010, Flagship Sponsor Qatar Petroleum and Leadership Sponsor Jaidah Group to launch the 4th Wheels 'n' Heels event which aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of ROTA's goal of 'Education For All'.
Wheels 'n' Heels attractions on Friday 5th November include the famous Wheels 'n' Heels Circuit. Saddle up, jump on your skateboard or simply pull on your trainers to complete The Circuit as families and celebrities jog, walk, cycle or wheelchair three kilometres of the Doha Corniche between 3:30 and 5pm to raise money for ROTA projects across Asia.
Celebrities scheduled to tackle The Circuit include race car driver and archer Nada Zeidan, actor Abdulaziz Jassim, ROTA Board Member Raghdaa Mahmud and a host of footballers from the Qatar Stars League.
Kidz Zone is guaranteed to keep the kids occupied for hours with non-stop live entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting and a whole lot of fun games, interactive sports and performances by renowned singers and dancers.
Well-known children's entertainer Baba Langa will ensure the kids enjoy themselves while all Wheels 'n' Heels celebrities will participate in an autograph signing session.
Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi, Lebanese actress and singer Maya Nasri, Emirati singer Mansour Zayer and Egyptian singer and composer Amro Mostafa are among the star attractions on the Wheels 'n' Heels Stage.
There will be attractions for the entire family at The Bazaar, an open air market featuring traditional Qatari handicrafts, food and activities, ROTA merchandise, information displays plus health and education displays by the Qatar Cancer Society and Qatar Diabetes Association.
'Stay Safe' will be the message in the Health & Safety Zone as children and adults learn more about first aid, how to stay healthy....and even get a free health check from the Hamad Medical nurses! Young ones will learn the importance of traffic rules and safety, and Civil Defense will be teaching fire safety and how to use a fire extinguisher.
If you have the energy, check out the Active Zone where Aspire, and Girls On The Go promise hours of fun sports and fitness activities for the whole family.
After all that exercise and enjoyment, relax in the Food Zone with a selection of tasty snacks and watch all the Wheels 'n' Heels action on two big screens showing all the entertainment and activities. Get inspired to give back to your own community activity by listening to motivational speeches from Lebanese TV presenter and women's activist Rania Baroud and ROTA Board Member Raghdaa Mahmud. On Saturday 6th November international celebrity chefs take to the Wheels 'n' Heels Stage with healthy food demonstrations from W Doha Hotel Executive Chef, Prakash Seetul and chefs from Gordon Ramsay's 'Maze'. Crowds will be treated to tasty samples of the finest food in Doha during four cooking demonstrations on Friday and Saturday. Throughout the two days the fun never ends, and everyone in Qatar can show their support for ROTA by helping to raise funds for education projects across Asia.
