Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, The Amir of Qatar and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, the 4th Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) Gala Dinner on Monday 12th December hopes to raise substantial funds to support existing and new educational projects in Qatar and Asia.

Launching the 4th ROTA Gala Dinner during a Press Conference at the Msheireb Enrichment Centre, ROTA Board member HE Sheikha Dr. Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani announced that Msheireb Properties, the master developer of the 31-hectare Msheireb Downtown Doha project that is transforming the heart of Doha, will be the exclusive ROTA 4th Gala Dinner Gold Sponsor.

“Reach Out to Asia is an extremely important initiative that makes a real difference in empowering young people in some of the most deprived parts of Asia. Msheireb Properties understands that education is the foundation on which solid, sustainable futures are built, and we are committed to sharing our knowledge and experience in sustainable development in ways that can be of the benefit to ROTA and to young people throughout the continent. It is a pleasure to support the 4th ROTA Gala Dinner, and we look forward to further collaboration in the months and years to come,” said Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties.

Qatar's leading education and humanitarian charity, ROTA will roll out the red carpet at Katara Cultural Village for an expected 500 guests who will include the elite of Qatari society in addition to high profile VIPs, celebrities, statesmen and dignitaries from around the world.

Guests will have exclusive opportunities to show their total support for ROTA’s work during a Charity Auction, managed by Sotheby’s, which is expected to raise a significant sum of money to launch future ROTA programs in Asia and Qatar.

Under the theme ‘Unity & Diversity’, the four-hour event will be dedicated to celebrating Asia’s youth, valuing the importance of education and championing the work of ROTA.

During the evening, youth involved in ROTA projects will explain the impact ROTA has had upon their community.

Since its 3rd Gala Dinner in 2009, ROTA and its partners have completed landmark projects in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Cambodia. In partnership with Islamic Relief Worldwide, ROTA has rehabilitated 22 schools in Gaza and improved the educational process by conducting teacher training for 300 teachers.

Working in collaboration with its Cambodian partner the Monithapana Foundation, ROTA has expanded the Vihear Suork Schools in Kandal Province by building new primary, secondary and vocational schools to benefit more than 500,000 people in the local community. In addition, the ROTA-funded Kampot Traditional Music and Dance School provides cultural education for orphaned, disabled and vulnerable which focuses on traditional Khmer music and dance, as well vocational training.

In Qatar, socially responsible young people eager to make a real difference welcomed the launch of ROTA-Vodafone Qatar Youth Service Clubs (YSC). Since being launched in 2010, each club has been extremely active with milestone projects implemented and participation in events such as the EMPOWER 2011 conference held in April.

Working together with local partner The Titian Foundation, ROTA and Vodafone are also making a long term commitment to increasing educational opportunities in Indonesia. The Qatar-Titian Scholarship Fund is a 3-year scholarship program providing financial assistance for over 200 students attending the SMKN 1 ROTA Vocational School in Bayat.

In addition, 90 teachers have so far completed a ROTA-Vodafone Qatar funded teaching quality program, the first beneficiaries of an initiative that will provide instruction to 500 headmasters, 1,440 teachers and 60 Ministry trainers by 2014.

The ROTA Gala Dinner will also honour the achievements of a leading international personality who has made a deep and lasting impact across the world in the fields of education, empowerment and humanitarian work, as well as the ROTA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing the outstanding dedication, loyalty and commitment to Qatar’s progress by one of its citizens.

Speaking about the expected outcome of the Gala Dinner and Charity Auction, ROTA Board member H.E. Sheikha Dr. Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani said: "The funds we raise will be channeled to support ongoing and future projects in a number of Asian countries, as well as youth leadership programs here in Qatar. Each of ROTA’s previous Gala Dinners raised significant amounts and achieved extensive local and international media coverage. Our hope is for the 4th ROTA Gala Dinner to be equally successful."

The Gala Dinner will be followed by an extraordinary charity auction, managed by the world famous auction house Sotheby’s. On offer will be a unique selection of luxury items.

“We anticipate the 4th ROTA Gala Dinner will be a spectacular occasion that promotes the very best ROTA and Qatar has to offer in front of an elite audience,” H.E. Sheikha Dr. Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani added . "We hope our guests will be inspired by what they learn about ROTA's programs and support our work as we continue our mission to achieve education for all."

Gala Dinner Gold Sponsor Msheireb’s development was created to bridge the gap between the historic Doha of the past, and the leading, global metropolis it is today. This project maps what made Qatar’s traditional architecture and urban planning work well in the past, and applies what it has learned to for a sustainable and beneficial community of the future.

“The ROTA Gala Dinner is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to live in modern day Qatar,” added H.E. Sheikha D.r. Aisha. “We are excited to welcome Gold Sponsor Msheireb Properties, a proud and successful Qatari corporation, and thank them for making a generous donation which will be invested to bring hope of a better future for thousands of people across Asia.”

The 4th ROTA Gala Dinner takes place at Katara Cultural Village on Monday 12th December 2011. A limited number of Exclusive VIP seats for this prestigious event are available.
