Her Story, Her Business: How Pasio Enabled Sri Lanka’s Women
EAA Foundation and Gojo’s Pasio initiative in Sri Lanka, Economic Empowerment of Youth through Digital Financial Inclusion, targets rural entrepreneurs aged 18–35, with a special focus on women. In partnership with Sejaya Micro Credit Ltd, it provides digital financing tools -- including a mobile banking app for loan management -- community learning platforms, and an online shop. The programme enhances financial and digital literacy, fosters independence, and supports sustainable livelihoods. As of mid-August 2025, 34,575 of 101,833 loans have been disbursed across 52 branches, improving economic opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Features like real-time loan tracking and interest visualisation strengthen financial planning, while hands-on training ensures participants can effectively leverage digital tools.
By combining income-generating loans, business education, and digital support, Pasio cultivates an inclusive ecosystem where youth gain confidence, self-reliance, and the ability to drive positive change in their communities.
EAA Foundation has received extensive coverage in both national and international media, highlighting the impact of its Pasio programme in Sri Lanka and India. Commonwealth Union News featured the Sri Lanka project in From Dreams to Enterprises: Pasio empowers Sri Lanka’s Young Entrepreneurs, showcasing how young rural entrepreneurs are transforming their communities.
Ceylon Today ran a half-page feature in its weekend edition for the column Women Unstoppable, profiling beneficiaries Madushani and Tashira, including interviews with programme managers, local partners, and the women themselves.
These features underscore EAA Foundation’s work in empowering youth and women through financial inclusion, education, and entrepreneurial support.
