UNICEF, UNDP and the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Centre of Mind and Body Medicine concluded a training of 416 school counsellors across Gaza on stress release techniques. Funded by Al Fakhoora, a programme of Education Above All, the training will help both counsellors and teachers reduce their stress, prevent burnout, enhance their capacity for empathy and compassion and improve their professional performance. “We help everyone around us deal with all kinds of stress, this this the first time we get the chance as counsellors to release our own stresses that have accumulated while we dealt with several conflicts over a long period of time.” Said Noor Dahlan, a school counsellor from Khan Younis. The counselors are expected to train teachers to implement the stress release techniques and activities with the children inside classrooms.
