Al-Fakhoora thank UNESCO

A group of 43 Al-Fakhoora scholars gathered on November 4th at the front of the UN building in Gaza to thank UNESCO for supporting the decision of full membership for Palestine. Students met the Gaza UNESCO representative Mr. Mohammed Al-Arouqi and handed him a “Thank You”

A group of 43 Al-Fakhoora scholars gathered on November 4th at the front of the UN building in Gaza to thank UNESCO for supporting the decision of full membership for Palestine.

 

Students met the Gaza UNESCO representative Mr. Mohammed Al-Arouqi and handed him a “Thank You” letter from Al-Fakhoora scholars.

 

Mr. Al-Arouq thanked the students for their support, saying: “This is important support from Al-Fakhoora scholars in Gaza, and its relevant to the UNESCO mandate and support for Education.”

 

“What happened in UNESCO is reflecting the joined efforts by the Palestinians towards their rights in the International platforms,” he added.

 

Israa Yaseen, an Al-Fakhoora scholar who participated in the gathering said; “This decision in UNESCO is a vital step towards gaining our rights, it’s a step towards protecting our heritage and culture”.

 

Husam Zimmo from Al-Fakhoora team in Gaza, reflected on the news: “Al-Fakhoora scholars were enthusiastic for this event, which we believe that its essential for their civic engagement in the public life”.

Dear UNESCO Representative in the oPT,

 

We are writing to you are as representatives of Al-Fakhoora Scholars in Palestine to express out gratefulness and thanks for the UNESCO support for the Palestinian Rights.

 

Granting the full membership for Palestine is a significant step towards acknowledgment of the Palestine’s culture, history and sovereignty.

 

As students, we consider this step as a vital to acknowledgment of our rights as Palestinians for freedom and peace. We highly appreciate and respect the democratic dynamics of UNESCO and the process in which this decision has been reached.

 

Being an important and vital actor for advancement of science and education and protection of culture, and national heritage we are so hopeful that this decision will have its immediate impact over the protection of the Palestinian heritage and culture as well as its enormous historical and religious sites in Palestine.
