Empower 2014

EMPOWER Youth Conference is part of a series of 3 youth development initiatives currently led by ROTA Youth program. This three day youth led conference seeks to energize, mobilize and inspire leadership and civic responsibility among Qatar’s youth.

“EMPOWER 2014 is ROTA’s 6th Youth Conference on Leadership, Service Learning and Global Citizenship”.


Dates: 27th to 29th March 2014

Venue: Qatar Foundation Student Center

 

EMPOWER 2014  is ROTA’s sixth annual 3-day Youth Conference on Leadership, Service Learning and Global Citizenship. The program aims to attract up to 450 young people between the ages of 16-26. Participants are mainly from Qatar

In the last 5 five years, EMPOWER has gained a reputation as the first youth- led conference in Qatar. It focuses on equipping young people with skills to take active roles in building their communities, as well as and having a voice on global issues. The main aim of the event is to raise awareness and build knowledge and capacity to enable young people to take leadership roles in addressing local and international developmental issues of concern to them.

The three- day event will include a combination of seminar, panel discussion, power speeches, keynote speeches, small group workshops, off-site visits, and a youth panel. The major theme is Sports for Youth Empowerment.

Following the success of 2013, the 2014 event will continue to invite regional youth activist. Empower 2014 will be a good platform for youth from different regions to network with the youth in Qatar.

Brief Program

Thursday, 27th March
4.30pm -9.00pm: Opening Ceremony, Power Speeches, Panel Discussion, Exhibition, Performances

Friday, 28th March
8.00am – 5.00pm: Keynote Speeches, 14 workshops (2 sets of 7 concurrent workshops), Seminar, Youth Artistic Performances

Saturday, 29th March
8.00am -5.00pm: Off-site community service projects, Reflection activity, Cultural / Talent show and Closing ceremony
