Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

In collaboration with Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), Mohammed Al Thani has set off to climb Mount Aconcagua, of the Andes mountain range, the highest mountain in the Americas at 6,962 m (22,841 ft.)

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdalla Al Thani, Chairman and co-founder of Musafir.com, set off on a three week expedition to climb Mount Aconcagua, the second highest of the Seven Summits. Taking the Polish Gracier Traverse Route, it is expected to be a difficult climb with conditions such as high winds, low temperatures, and possible altitude sickness caused by low partial pressure oxygen.

The expedition which started on the 16th of January 2011, will take up to 3 weeks while the actual climb will be about 18 days depending on conditions. Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani will be climbing alongside Masoud Mohammed, a resident of Dubai, Zeid Rifai from Kuwait, and Raed Zidan from Palestine. Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani's goal to reach the peak of Aconcagua, is a reflection of his ongoing determination to become a role model for today's youth for setting goals and working to achieve them.

"Its not just for fun, it's a challenge to push yourself to the extreme potentials of your abilities. It's also not just about making it or not, I will keep at it until I complete what I set off to achieve. That is the message I want to send, keeping at your goals until you conquer them, an important lesson for our generation."

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani will be donating 100% of the proceeds to Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), a Qatari-based non-governmental organization (NGO) which aims to provide quality Primary and Secondary education for all children of Asia. Working with ROTA makes Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani's endeavor all the more meaningful, and will hopefully inspire further corporate sponsors to sign on.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani has a bucket list of one hundred and seventeen tasks. The list includes not only climbing to mountain peaks but also goals that are personal, family, and business oriented. The bucket list is something that Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani carries on a daily basis as a reminder to keep on working towards the goals he has set for himself.

"Not all things on my list can be crossed off once achieved, since things like 'Help another person' are not one-time goals. The list is a daily reminder of my long-term goals as well as daily principles to live by. Today's generation need to find a vision, create goals, and form plans and actually take the steps towards actualizing them."

"Sheikh Mohammed's determination to succeed is an inspiration to us all, specially the youth of Qatar. On behalf of ROTA directors, staff and volunteers, I wish him and his colleagues the best of luck on this incredible record-breaking attempt and look forward to welcoming him safely back in Qatar," said ROTA acting Director Essa Al Mannai.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani has already conquered Mount Everest Base Camp in 2009 and Mount Kilimanjaro in 2010.
