Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) and local strategic partners, THE One and Qatar First Investment Bank (QFIB), have cooperated in renovating a house for a needy family; a move that will surely improve their quality of life.

The house renovation, which took place on the 23rd of September, owes its inspiration to ROTA’s volunteer-driven “ROTA Reaches Out To All Children” Ramadan campaign. Volunteers from ROTA, QFIB and THE One assisted in refurbishing the house.

“We initially began with one house renovation in Ramadan,” explained Mr. Mohammed Abdulla Saleh, Community Development Manager at ROTA. “However, with the generous support of our corporate partners, we have been able extend the spirit and values of Ramadan and commitment to our community here in Qatar. On behalf of ROTA, I would like to graciously thank THE One and QFIB for cooperating with us on this project. Without their support, and their volunteers, we would not have been able to bring joy to this family.”

Over 20 volunteers from all three organizations took part in the renovation, which included rehabilitating the façade, restoration of the interior, and refurnishing the house. The entire process took only two days; however, the impact will be felt for a lifetime, not only by the recipient family, but by the volunteers themselves.

“Even though I have a very busy schedule, I made time to volunteer in this activity,” said Ms. Katia El-Dali, a ROTA Volunteer. “As an expat living in Qatar, I feel it is only right that I should give back to the community I live in. Even though the work was difficult considering we worked through the day, it was all worth it in the end. In two short days, what started out as a run-down house was turned into a beautiful home. It is incredible that with relatively little effort, we were able to make a real positive difference to the family. The outcome has inspired me to contribute my time and skills to help those who are less fortunate.”

Volunteers for future Reach Out To Asia charitable initiatives are always welcome to participate. Please visit www.reachouttoasia.org for more information.
