ROTA Presence at Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo
• Ferjaan Festival showcases Qatari culture for the people of Japan

Celebrating 40 years of friendship between Qatar and Japan, Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) delegation travelled to Tokyo to participate in the Ferjaan Qatari Culture Festival.
From Thursday 27th September to Monday 1st October at Tokyo's Roppongi Hills Arena, Ferjaan will offer a fascinating opportunity for the people of Japan to experience Qatar's unique cultural heritage in the very heart of Tokyo.
Organised by the Qatar-Japan 2012 Committee with the aim of sharing Qatari culture with the people of Japan, visitors to Ferjaan will experience traditional Qatari arts, crafts and culture through a series of activities including henna painting, falconry, embroidery, Pearl trading, calligraphy and traditional Qatari cuisine.
With the performing arts a valued part of Qatar’s culture heritage, Ferjaan will also feature musical performances, film screenings, presentations and prayer sessions to promote Qatari culture.
Ferjaan represents the culmination of twelve months of cultural, sporting and business-related activities held under the banner of Qatar-Japan 2012.
In partnership with the International Exchange Division at Asia-Pacific Culture Center for UNESCO (ACCU) in Japan, ROTA has hosted two groups of Japanese students in Doha during 2012.
As part of the 40th Anniversary Qatar–Japan celebrations, a group of 40 Japanese students took part in the ROTA Wheels ‘n ‘ Heels Community Fun Day, making a presentation outlining how Japan is recovering after the devastating tsunami of 2011.
The following month, a group of 10 Japanese students took part in EMPOWER 2012, ROTA’s Annual Youth Forum, where they shared their experiences about how their schools recovered from the tsunami’s disastrous aftermath.
At the Ferjaan event itself, ROTA was pleasantly surprised by high profile visitors at its booth, including H.E. Abdulla bin Hamad Al Attiya Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority and Princess Hisako Takamadu and were introduced to ROTA’s project and initiatives.
“We were honored by his His Excellency’s and Princess Takamadu’s visit,” said Essa Al Manna, Executive Director, ROTA. “In addition, over 1300 visitors passed by our booth to listen to our story. We also launched our film showing Japanese involvement in Wheels N’Heels 2012 and Empower 2012 sub-titled in Japanese, and was well-received by our young Japanese visitors.”
