ROTA Organizes Community Iftar for Qasr Al Sa'adah
ROTA Volunteers prepare and serve Iftar for the residents of Qasr Al Sa'adah
Qatar-based NGO Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) organized a community Iftar for the Qasr Al Sa'adah on Tuesday, August 16. The Iftar was part of the ROTA Ramadan Project 2010, a series of community initiatives by ROTA and its supporting partners during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The special Iftar, organized with the support of Jaidah Group - ROTA's Key Sponsor for this year's Ramadan Project, was attended by residents and staff of Qasr Al Sa'adah, as well as volunteers and staff from ROTA.
Qasr Al Sa'adah, the Palace of Happiness, is a care home for adult men with mental health conditions. An extension of Hamad Medical Corporation, Qasr Al Sa'adah provides holistic care and treatment for its residents. ROTA volunteers prepared and served the residents the iftar meal and participated in activities that facilitated interactive conversation.
Essa Al Mannai, Acting Director of ROTA commented: "The Holy Month of Ramadan reflects the spirit of sharing, caring and spreading goodwill. This Iftar meal highlights the importance of giving back to the community, the spirit of volunteerism and the satisfaction that one feels by helping others. I would like to thank ROTA volunteers but also Jaidah Group for supporting ROTA initiatives throughout the last 3 years and in this case reflecting the spirit of Ramadan in the best way."
Mr. Mohamed Jaidah, Jaidah Group's Chief Development Officer, said, "By upholding and perpetuating the qualities of acceptance and generosity, organizations like Jaidah Group and ROTA are focusing attention on Qatar's social development initiatives. All of our team firmly believes in not only participating-but also engaging all levels of community in order to foster dynamic change. Ultimately, supporting this event demonstrates Jaidah Group's involvement in important Qatari initiatives that place understanding and philanthropy as its governing vision."
The volunteer-driven community campaign clearly demonstrates ROTA's commitment to society and underlines the spirit of the Holy Month. The event gave the volunteers an opportunity to serve and dine with the residents and learn more about the contribution of Qasr Al Sa'adah in the community.
Designed to extend a helping hand to less privileged families in Qatar, the 2010 Ramadan Project also includes Garangaou celebrations with child patients, a house renovation project in partnership with home fashion store, THE One, as well as more Iftar meals with other community institutions. Within the scope of the project, Reach Out To Asia's volunteers have already packed and distributed groceries to over 100 families in need.
