ROTA & THE one join hands to help the underprivileged
Volunteers and staff from ROTA and "THE one" home fashion store renovate the house of a family in need
Qatar-based NGO Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) once again joined hands with THE One to bring joy and hope to a family in need.
Celebrating their continued partnership, ROTA and THE One served their common vision for a happier community by offering a house renovation within the scope of ROTA's Ramadan Project.
The two-day house renovation, which involved wall painting and the delivering of furniture and accessories by THE One, was successfully completed in the area of Al Rayyan. Electrical appliances were also installed. A unique part of this activity involved building a 'Learning Corner' for the children of the family, which included a computer - donated by Qatar Foundation - and a mini library of books and other learning materials.
In addition to the joy that was experienced while sharing the spirit of giving during the Holy Month of Ramadan, ROTA volunteers and staff together with members from THE One, learnt skills associated with renovating a home, giving them a newfound appreciation for the value of a healthy living environment.
Reem Al Daghma, Community Development Manager of ROTA, said: "We are extremely grateful to our wonderful volunteers and of course to THE One for their continuous assistance in all our activities. They have set a wonderful example for others to follow by devoting their valuable time and efforts for helping our community."
Gaby Salome, Country Operations Manager for THE One Qatar and CSR Ambassador for THE One, said: "ROTA and THE One share a similar philosophy: Improving the quality of people's lives through education and therefore changing their future forever. Over the past few years the 'Onederworkers' have participated in many ROTA activities and once again we are proud to be involved in their Ramadan Project. I hope we have inspired other companies to do the same."
In providing opportunities to volunteers to reach out to their local communities, this year's Ramadan project aims to benefit approximately 700 individuals through various activities such as visits to community based institutions where volunteers and beneficiaries share Iftar; Garangaou activities at different hospitals and food items packing and distribution to over 100 families in need.
