ROTA iEARN-Qatar Workshops build teachers' professional skills
Workshops to support highest standards of education in Qatar's schools
As part of its commitment to supporting the highest standards of education in Qatar's schools, Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) is hosting two professional development workshops to introduce K-12 teachers to the opportunities presented by the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN).
'Introduction to iEARN Projects' on the 10th of March, 2011 introduces teachers to iEARN and iEARN projects, followed by 'iEARN-Qatar and the ROTA Knowledge Network' on the 19th of March which will provide teachers with all the necessary tools and support to successfully implement iEARN Projects in their classrooms and collaborate online with members of the ROTA Knowledge Network and iEARN Community.
Both workshops are designed to enable teachers to develop their knowledge of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and project planning. Workshop participants will also become members of the ROTA Knowledge Network community (www.rotaknowledgenet.org), build an Online Project Portfolio and benefit from the online support and collaboration of the community.
"iEARN-Qatar workshops demonstrate our efforts to connect educators and learners. The iEARN-Qatar community has benefited from the ROTA Knowledge Network and I would like to encourage more schools to join us and share the enthusiasm and knowledge of the community," commented ROTA Director Essa Al Mannai.
Reach Out To Asia is the official representative of iEARN in Qatar. Since 2008 iEARN-Qatar has been providing opportunities for students and teachers to collaborate through the network with other iEARN communities around the world. Educators also have the opportunity to join the ROTA Knowledge Network to further develop their professional skills and implement meaningful online projects supporting their teaching. More than 70 schools and 260 teachers have already been involved in iEARN-Qatar.
In addition to the above workshops, ROTA organizes iEARN-Qatar Facilitators and Training of Trainers workshops. Those workshops aim at equipping experienced members of the program to (rise/advance) to the next level of supporting or training new teachers to join the program."
