Doha, Qatar – 26 August 2014: Qatar’s football governing body, Qatar Football Association and Reach out to Asia (ROTA), Qatar’s leading non-profit and community development organization, today issued a statement announcing that QR300,000 in proceeds from the recent Sheikh Jassim Cup will be donated to Gaza victims.

Essa Al Mannai, ROTA’s Executive Director said, "Supporting access to education and community development in Gaza has been a priority for ROTA and we are again proud to be partnering with Qatar Football Association on this powerful and essential humanitarian initiative. I would like to thank all the fans and community for showing their support and solidarity, and making a positive impact for our neighbors in Gaza. ROTA started its first mission in Gaza during the Israeli war that started in December of 2008. Since then, as a long term response to the destruction caused by the 23-day Israeli war on Gaza, ROTA has funded phases I and II of a project aiming to rebuild, rehabilitate and refurbish 22 damaged schools throughout the Gaza Strip.  ROTA remains committed to Gaza and supporting its community in this time of great need.”

Khalid Mubarak Al Kuwari, Executive Director, operations (Acting) of QFA commented: “We’d like to congratulate Al Sadd on winning the Sheikh Jassim Cup this year and most importantly we’d like to thank our partner Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) for supporting QFA’s initiative which aims to donate the ticket proceeds of the match to the victims of Gaza and the renovation of schools that were destroyed as a result of the Israeli aggression. Education to QFA is of utmost importance and our partnership with ROTA ensures that we are involved in providing education that will change the lives of children living in underprivileged communities."
