Mona Al Nabahin, 25, is an outstanding young woman from Gaza City, achieving excellence with a cumulative 94.8% in her secondary school. In addition, she completed two undergraduate degrees from the Islamic University in Gaza (IUG), the first in accounting and the second in management, and both with outstanding academic performance.

When Mona approached Al Fakhoora for an International Master’s Scholarship, she brought with her an already blossoming and outstanding career as a young trainer and mentor in entrepreneurship and business planning. Mona had begun her career as a volunteer at the Small Enterprises Center as a trainer and mentor for the establishment of small businesses, believing that this is a path where she can be a leader, particularly as a female. For the last couple of years, Mona has be working as a Business Planning and Entrepreneurship Instructor at UNRWA’s Khan Younis Training Center.

Mona was awarded Al Fakhoora’s International Master’s Scholarship to pursue her MA in Entrepreneurship at the University of Liverpool in the UK.

For Mona, “Entrepreneurship is having a soaring market, particularly under the current circumstances, where unemployment is high, and only limited short term employment is offered. Entrepreneurship creates jobs for the owner and other people who may get involved in the business – Now startups are an international trend, and this could be an excellent approach for people to rise out of unemployment.”

Mona added, “Since I left Gaza in September 2013 to start my studies in the UK, I have been impressed by some very interesting and tough approaches. The University and the program are excellent, we benefit from a very practical teaching methodology where we go to the market, learn in the field, and use film to focus on business skill.”
