IT Capacity Building at UCAS
As a part of building the capacities of local Palestinian Universities, Al Fakhoora’s Dynamic Futures is supporting infrastructure development for IT at the University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS).
One the vital components is the development of 20 courses within seven different IT modules. During November 2013, UCAS began the process of assessing a number of XX courses as a part of the seven modules. The assessment, tackled by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals recommended the immediate review, and development of 20 courses.
Auda Al Shukri, project coordinator stated “Course module development is a regular process that takes places every two years, particularly in the IT field due to rapid global development and based on market needs. The development of these courses is currently a must as we did not have the resources to conduct such revision in the past three years.”
Ibrahim Al Halbi, a multimedia professor at UCAS, and the deputy dean of the IT Unit commented “One of the courses chosen is a multimedia course for the film students. During the last two years there has been a massive development in montage software, we do not have these new courses and we still teach the basics of montage software, but this is insufficient for the market in Gaza.”
