Inauguration Of 125 Students
Al Fakhoora Dynamic Futures program initiated its second phase on March 4 2015, awarding 125 of the 630 scholarships that will be given to students between 2015-2021. A total USD $28,500,000 will go toward providing educational opportunities to students in Gaza pursuing higher education in local and international universities.
"Al Fakhoora Dynamic Futures is continuing its mission with a firm belief of the importance of quality Education that contributes in creating young leaders who are well-prepared to develop their communities, defend their rights globally, and to be ambassadors for development, stability and peace,” said Mozna Abumery, Al Fakhoora Dynamic Future's Program Manager.
Over 700 people attended the ceremony where 35 medicine students received their scholarships, named after 18-year-old Furkan Doğan, who was aspiring to be a doctor but was killed during the raid on the Gaza flotilla. The other 90 scholarships were given to other specialties each named after a child who was killed during the war on Gaza, 2014.
Shadi Saleh, an Al Fakhoora representative, expressed the organizations’ vision to not only provide financial aid, but to also equip students with “leadership skills to make a positive change in the community.”
The event included speeches from senior UNDP officials and Al Fakhoora representatives, a narration of the Al Fakhoora Anthem, a Palestinian folkloric show, and a distribution of Al Fakhoora Scholarship certificates.
