Georgetown Students Discuss Justice and Peace with Students in Gaza
The Virtual Majlis (VM) is a program of regular online meet-ups between international student groups, designed to overcome the physical blockade on Gaza and connect students in Gaza with the outside world. The hope is that together students from across the globe can advocate for the breaking of the blockade and the right to education. Following on from the success of the VMs in the US and the UK, a new forum was launched with Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFSQ). Focusing on International Justice and Peace students receive credit for discussing issues they are studying with students in Gaza. Putting a real face to the words in a book, Georgetown students are able to discuss a variety of issues from being a refugee to non-violent resistance and the struggle of living under blockade and conflict with international law that they are just supposed to accept.
Currently on summer break, Al Fakhoora looks forward to another season of VMs with Georgetown University SFSQ next semester!
