An English Opportunity
Amani Al Hams is 20 years old and lives in Rafah, the far south of the Gaza Strip with her family that encounters severe hardships. In secondary school, she achieved an excellent mark of 88%.
Amani is now in her fourth year of studying Basic Education at Al Quds Open University, with a cumulative grade of 89%. Amani was also among active students attending English Language Training held at AMIDEAST.
“This English training is so excellent and it has been my wish for a long time. In fact, it was my weakness though I always liked the language, but being expensive and only located in Gaza city, I have not had the opportunity – it helps me with finding a job, as everyone is interested in graduates who speak English, and also in the case of applying for a Master’s degree, which is my ambition.” Amani said.
Amani added “The training center, the books, the teacher, it has all contributed to an excellent learning environment. In fact, Al Fakhoora did not only help me with course fees but also with transportation. My family income cannot help to pay for three days of transportation to Gaza. I really would not be able to come without this support.”
Amani concluded, “My family keeps supporting me, they understand that I do this in the pursuit of more knowledge which is required for a job. InshAllah I will finish this next semester and be able to help my family.”
