EAA Shows How it is Transforming the Lives of Millions of Children Around the World
Sport and education are vital components of a child’s development, which was emphasised by EAA’s presence at the sporting event. Attendees at the Qatar Total Open were invited to take part in a ‘leap motion game’, whilst children helped to paint a map showing the 48 countries in which Educate A Child is working with partners to enable out of school children to access the quality education they deserve.
Young supporters of the programme’s work were able to have their picture taken with the Qatar Total winner, Karolina Pliskova, and runner up, Caroline Wozniacki, to raise awareness of the importance of providing education in some of the hardest to reach communities in the world.
There are currently 61 million children around the world who are unable to attend primary school. Educate A Child is focused on breaking down the barriers preventing access to education, which include culture, poverty, conflict and instability, and gender discrimination. Through Educate A Child and its strong partnership network, Education Above All is significantly reducing the number of children worldwide who are missing out on their right to education. Since 2012, EAC has committed to enrol more than 7 million out of school children, of which more than 4 million are already enrolled in quality primary education programmes.
Education Above All set up a booth at the tournament that included:
- A ‘leap motion’ game with EAC branded tennis balls
- A map for children to fill in, using paints to mark the locations of EAC’s 50 projects
- A rotating globe showing EAC projects
- A donation box for attendees to contribute to the Foundation’s work
