Members of Al Khor Community held a Charity Bazaar on the 5th and 6th of February in support of Gaza, choosing to donating all funds raised to Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) relief campaign for the children and youth in Gaza.

The event, which took place at the Al Waha Club House, brought together over 1000 residents from the Al Khor Community. Several stands with beautiful merchandize were set in a designated area, waiting to be bought by the visitors. Carpets, books, jewelry, toys and sweets were only some of the items for sale. The colorful ROTA T-Shirts were just one of the hits of the bazaar, with teenagers and volunteers trying them on and filling the place with color.

Various items donated by the community were sold under the 'Bring a Gift' initiative to raise money. Mohammad Al-Khaldy, Al Khor Community Director and his team would like to express their deepest gratitude to the vendors and contributors who without their support it would not have been possible to raise 48,940 Qatari Riyals, which was donated to ROTA. He would especially like to thank everybody who donated a raffle gift particularly the main sponsor of the event, IBQ.

Expressing her gratitude, Maha Al Sulaiti, Sponsorship and Fundraising Coordinator at ROTA, said: "The support we have received since launching the Gaza relief campaign in December 2008 has been overwhelming and we are deeply grateful. Your generosity today is a clear indication of the spirit of bigheartedness that prevails in the Al Khor community."

The inauguration was attended by Saqr Almuhanadi member of Municipal Council, Lt. Colonel Hilal Almuhanadi representing North Security Department, and Rashid Al Naimi, Al Khor Municipality Director, all of whom made significant donations. Special thanks to Mr Saeed Almuhanadi General Manager of Seashore for his generous donation.

Laura Young, Social Events Officer at Qatargas, commented: "We are delighted to be part of this noble relief program. If a few lives can be positively impacted in Gaza through our actions here, then our aim would have been achieved."

So far ROTA's Gaza Relief Campaign in cooperation with Al Fakhoora International Student campaign has generated over 400 million Qatari Riyals since it started in December 2008. Those interested to contribute to the Gaza relief campaign through ROTA can send their donations to 'ROTA' at Qatar National Bank (QNB) A/c No 0035-004919-004 (Palestine Immediate Relief) with its Qatar Foundation branch, or SMS the word "ROTA" to 2456 and donate QR15.
