Piloting EAA Foundation's Internet Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB)
Project Status
This project aimed to continue the learning journey of students confined to their homes during COVID-19 by introducing a home-learning curriculum built around PBL. Education Above All Foundation worked with Barefoot Education to design a distance-learning model tailored to learners with limited technology and connectivity. The program developed and adapted PBL resources for home use, while also conducting action research to evaluate their effectiveness in increasing engagement, strengthening learning outcomes, and building student autonomy. To reach learners in these challenging circumstances, the program relied on low-tech methods such as WhatsApp communication with parents, school-based briefings, and direct home visits by teachers when necessary. Alongside this, EAA Foundation’s IDD team supported Barefoot Education’s educators in customising and applying the home-learning curriculum, ensuring that the lessons implemented from the pilot would feed into a broader resource bank for future adoption. The initiative also invested in teacher training, equipping educators with the skills to effectively design and deliver PBL resources in diverse and constrained contexts.
