Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Finding Hope Despite the Pain

Calendar icon

Ahmed Al-Halabi, a young volunteer from Gaza City, is a beacon of resilience and compassion in the Gaza Strip. Working with the "Save Youth Future Society," Ahmed dedicates his efforts to psychological relief for children affected by war, drawing on his own experiences of pain, siege, and conflict during his childhood. He believes passionately that no child should endure the horrors of war and displacement.

Born in a besieged city and deprived of basic human rights, Ahmed feels a profound duty to make a positive impact on his community, especially on its most vulnerable members—children. He views children as the cornerstone of society's future, deserving of every effort to instill good values and hope for a better tomorrow.

Despite the challenges, including the initial halting of activities by his organization to ensure volunteer safety at the war's outbreak, Ahmed and his fellow volunteers resumed their mission, driven by a duty to support the children isolated from educational institutions during the conflict. Coordinating with Hossam Weshah, the governorate’s coordinator, Ahmed helped bridge communication among volunteers across the Central Governorate, fostering a unified effort to aid the displaced.

Ahmed's initiatives, like the Charity Fund Initiative and the Eid Lantern Initiative, focus on alleviating the psychological burden on children. These programs not only provide emotional relief but also bring tangible joy through competitions, gift distributions, and festive celebrations during Ramadan. Such efforts aim to restore a sense of normalcy and joy among children, often witnessed by their grateful parents.

Reflecting on the broader impact of his work, Ahmed underscores the importance of continuous support from institutions providing psychological services, advocating for more robust backing to sustain such essential activities. His personal journey of volunteering has not only left a lasting impression on the children he serves but also enriched his own sense of purpose and fulfillment.

The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation supports endeavors like Ahmed's, recognizing the critical role of youth-led initiatives in addressing the educational and psychological needs of children in conflict zones. Through its various programs, EAA strives to empower young leaders like Ahmed, ensuring they have the resources and support to inspire and rehabilitate their communities. This story exemplifies the profound impact that dedicated individuals and supportive organizations can have on the lives of young people in challenging environments, embodying the hope and resilience necessary to overcome adversity.
