Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Rethinking Higher Education: A New Way of Learning to Become

Calendar icon 29 - 30 June 2020
The Future of Higher Education Post COVID-19 for Marginalised Youth in the MENA Region

Education Above All’s Al Fakhoora programme, in partnership with UNDP, is excited to host the first educational conference of its kind, designed and led completely by students – our beneficiaries, who are directly experiencing the reality of COVID-19 as an additional challenge to the already complex situations in which they live. The conference, held on the 29th and 30th of June 2020, will include Palestinian students from Gaza and the West Bank, and Syrian refugees from across the MENA region.

Through a series of pivotal topics, we will discuss various aspects of Higher Education in the MENA region, specifically for marginalised youth. The panels will endeavour to highlight four main perspectives: that of policymakers, INGOs, educational experts, and the youth themselves. The hope is that, together, we can discuss ways in which we can prepare for what will come next, and ensure that marginalised youth, already affected by conflict, are equipped to face the uncertain and possible futures that lie ahead.

The conference will focus on four key themes:

  • Online Learning
  • E-work
  • Mental Health
  • Community in Times of Crisis
