ROTA Youth Service Club - Leadership Training 2017

ROTA Youth Service Club (RYSC) Leadership Training is a 4 days interactive and practical leadership, project management and advocacy skills training program, which has been designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of potential RYSC members. The training is intended to be delivered in friendly learning environment, where students will be able to work and learn in an exclusive unfamiliar area that is away from everyday distractions and comforts. On a later stage the possibility of organizing advanced leadership training for the existing clubs is being considered as well.

Below is an attempt to explain how we propose to deliver a specialized youth leadership training session that aim to empower and enable Qatar's to active and responsible contributors to their communities and the world at large. The course sessions will include workshops and practical and interactive sessions on leadership, team work, project management, service learning, impact assessment, finance, marketing and monitoring and evaluation. The course has been designed to prepare new members of the ROTA Youth Service Club program with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to run their Club activities effectively.

Programme Activities:

  1. Provide leadership training to 45 youth participants by November 2015.
  2. Provide service learning and global awareness to 45 youth participants by November 2015.
  3. Provide youth clubs set up training to 45 youth participants by October 2015.
  4. Recruit 60 % of Qatari youth for training.
  5. To provide ongoing mentorship and support for 45 members of RYSC with advanced training to help them improve club management and carry out a sustain a well planned projects by November 2015.

What's new?

  • The participation and involvement of more new members.
  • Enhance the quality of the created projects through the provided skills training and used learning tools.
  • The involvement of the RYAB members in the training by supporting the new clubs members performance and projects execution.
  • Extend an invitation to successful personalities to present their achievements and be an inspiration or a positive model to the new members.
  • Continue with a productive and enhanced follow up system for the training: this will take place every two weeks approximately after the leadership training. RYSCs members will be asked for regular meeting to deliver some supporting information, trainings, projects plans and presentations, in order to help them start with their clubs in the best and efficient way possible. Putting in to consideration holydays and exams period in scheduling the meetings.
  • In addition an advance training will be provided for the old and experienced clubs it will take place in 2 day either before or after the leadership training for 5 hours a day with a break allowing the students to improve their skills in specific fields such as:

    Day 1: - Sustaining your club and scaling up your project. - Advanced teamwork Training.

    Day 2: - Pitching your idea and building your network including structuring and organization.

    - Think Globally and act locally. Total number of participants 20-25 maximum. There will be an online registration for it an invitation will be extended to last year's ROTA Youth Service Clubs' members only.

  • Existing ROTA clubs will be provided with a mini-grant of 5,000 QR and mentorship from ROTA's CDD Team to scale up their projects, ensure sustainability and have a more concrete governance model that will ensure their sustainability as a club and building on their accumulated knowledge.
