Employment and Self-Employment through Strengthening Food and Livelihood Security in Conflict-Affected Populations in Sudan
Project Status

This Project aims to:
- Enhance employment and self-employment opportunities by strengthening food security and livelihoods of crisis-affected communities, thereby contributing to economic recovery, peace, and social cohesion.
- Through this project, 17,700 youth (mainly IDPs and refugees) will gain employment or self-employment in the agricultural and livestock sectors by accessing micro-grants, land, tools, and machinery.
- The five key components of the project are Agricultural Production, Livestock Production, Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation (Including Solar Water Pumps and irrigation systems), Income Generation through farm Livelihood Opportunities, and Strengthening the Capacity of Local Institutions as a cross-cutting component.
The expected outcomes of this project include the following:
- 17,200 young people will gain medium-term sustainable employment.
- 500 young people will become self-employed as a result of a micro-grant.
- Strengthen food security and livelihoods of IDPs and crisis-affected communities by contributing to saving and preserving lives whilst enhancing peace and social cohesion.
- Strengthen the resilience of displaced and host communities affected by conflict. This, in turn, will contribute to enhanced peace, stability, and economic recovery in conflict-affected communities.
- Support community development and self-reliance through strengthening farmers and agriculture production, and productivity through community farmers' Field Schools, infrastructure rehabilitation and capacity building.
