Green Visions and Thriving Futures: Empowering Youth for Sustainable Impact in Egypt
Project Status
The partnership between GenU, and EAA Foundation’s Silatech and Reach Out To All programmes aims at unleashing the potential of youth in Egypt to generate green impact and contribute to their local economies. By providing avenues for youth engagement and supporting their active participation in sustainable development efforts, the project aims to address environmental challenges, reduce youth unemployment rates, and foster economic growth.Â
Rolling out the program activities in Egypt will take young people on a journey from volunteering and Education on Climate Action (ECA) to greening communities and refugee camps to skilling young people for 21st-century employment and either placing these young people in jobs and/or supporting them to develop enterprises and be self-employed in various sectors.Â
This project is aligned with the priorities and the Vision 2030 of Egypt, particularly in the areas of youth skills, climate action and employability. Generation Unlimited (Shabab Balad) was launched under the auspices of the President of Egypt at the World Youth Forum in 2022 with full endorsement and support from the Government. The Government is co-chairing the Advisory Board of Shabab Balad through the Minister of International Cooperation, along with the UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt. Additionally, the Board includes prominent members from the public-private-youth representation, as well as the Minister of Youth and Sports, and the Minister of Communication and Information Technology. Furthermore, UNICEF Egypt’s Country Programme Document (CPD) 2023-2027 has been designed in alignment with the country's Vision 2030.
