About EAA

Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Through our programmes and partnerships, EAA works to:

  • Empower millions of out-of-school children to overcome barriers to quality primary education
  • Ensure access to quality education programmes for marginalised youth
  • Build a global alliance for the protection of the right to education, especially in communities and regions affected by conflict and insecurity.
  • Equip young people with the education and life skills they need to lead global sustainable development.
  • Foster innovation and creative problem-solving to bridge the global digital and educational divide so that when it comes to education, no child is left behind.

Our Partnerships

We believe that we are at our best when we work as a united front. It is why we have built a borderless network of local and regional partners, including international aid agencies, schools, volunteers, global businesses, specialised funds, development banks, and community ambassadors and leaders.

To date, 59 countries, more than 49 implementing partners, and over 100 projects have joined our mission to transform the lives of over 16 million children and youth through education. Together, we have secured over USD 2.2 billion in funding to provide educational opportunities, technology-enabled resources, remote learning facilities, scholarships, and school seats for millions of the world’s OOSC.

Our Programmes

Education Above All seeks to transform the lives of millions of marginalised children and young people through education. An undertaking of this scale and impact requires a well-oiled machine of resources and human capital that work together to address barriers for quality education and sustainable development across the world’s most challenging geographies. It also requires focused and targeted problem-solving that is adapted to the local context and needs of the communities we serve.

It is why the EAA has built and designed several programmes under its umbrella, each tackling specific challenges, objectives, and solutions under EAA’s core mandate, as well as under the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These programmes work in complementarity to ensure that no individual, segment, or geography is left behind. In conflict-affected areas, EAA’s Educate A Child’s (EAC) programme focusses on the future by working to reach the most marginalised out of school children with quality primary education, while Protecting Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) concentrates on protecting education from violence and insecurity.

Focusing on youth at a more advanced level of their academic journey, EAA’s Al Fakhoora ensures the right to higher education for youth through university and vocational programmes, while EAA’s Youth Advocacy Programme (YAP) focuses on youth civic engagement and mobilisation towards sustainable development.

EAA’s Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) and Together Project have more focally targeted specific geographies. ROTA empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to take action to address the issue of climate change. The Together Project, launched in 2017, ensures equitable access to education for children across communities in Qatar.

Innovation Development (ID) works towards identifying persistent challenges in global education and designs and develops innovative solutions to make learning accessible to all. The ID programme has produced five unique education innovations in four years and won numerous awards.

Our Future

Violence, conflict, environmental disasters, insecurity, and poverty have become the new normal for millions of children and young people around the world. While our world is in constant flux and change, the right to quality education for every child and young person is a universal right that must be protected no matter what. Alongside its partners, EAA is committed to keeping education on top of the global developmental and humanitarian agenda.

EAA’S Zero Out Of School (OOSC) Strategy, launched in 2019, holds us to even greater expectations. Under the OOSC strategy, EAA and our partners have pledged to enrol 12.8 million out of school children in quality primary education programmes.  This goal is no easy or small feat, and we are committed to continuing to grow our partnerships and investments in order to bridge the global education divide through the power of technology, digital innovation, and talent growth.

Impact

"Humanity will not overcome the immense challenges we face unless we ensure that children get the quality education that equips them to play their part in the modern world." -- HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser
