Qatar Foundation for Social Work Sign Cooperation Agreement to Support Primary Education in Qatar
According to the three-year agreement, the two organisations will work together to provide and support primary education opportunities in Qatar. They will also plan and develop projects and awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of education. A joint committee will be established to oversee the activities included in the agreement. At the signing of the agreement, which took place at the offices of QFSW, Mariam Al Misnad, EAA Director of Outreach, gave an overview of the organisation’s work and expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with QFSW.
Commenting on the agreement, Marcio Barbosa, CEO, Education Above All Foundation, said: “Whilst EAA’s work has primarily been focused on countries around the world with the highest numbers of out-of-school children, it is also important to ensure that our efforts to ensure primary education for all also consider Qatar and local needs. We are pleased to be partnering with Qatar Foundation for Social Work on this project and we look forward to collaborating towards supporting education access here in Qatar. The agreement with QFSW is a further example of EAA’s efforts to partner with a diverse range of stakeholders to support primary education to give children access to opportunity.”
In her remarks at the signing event QFSW CEO, Mrs. Amal bint Abdullatif Al Mannai, said she is pleased that QFSW and EAA will be working together in a true partnership, and through this agreement, to contribute to supporting and developing social work, of providing educational opportunities to out-of-school children which will enable them to play active roles in the sustainable development of their society and strengthen family and social cohesion and human development in the State of Qatar. She said that this is part of QFSW's vision and mission of empowering and developing civil society organizations to help them realise their objectives, taking into consideration the threats families are facing amid regional and global changes.
She added that the signing of the agreement reflects QFSW's eagerness to actively contribute to the development process in a way that ensures integrated roles, concerted efforts, teamwork, and sustainable progress in social and human development based on national frameworks, led by Qatar National Vision 2030.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the two parties will draw up annual working plans, including elements such as :
- Studying possible aspects of cooperation between Qatar Foundation for Social Work and Education Above All on issues of mutual interest.
- Supporting out-of-school children to obtain education opportunities in Qatar.
- Placing and implementing plans, project and awareness campaigns on the importance of education.
- Engaging in any other activities the two parties deem necessary to realise their common objectives.
