Opening up a world of education

Children love to learn. If they are denied access to knowledge, we also deny them the opportunity to change their lives for the better.

Ahlibank in partnership with Education Above All (EAA)’s programme Educate A Child participated in two joint events to demonstrate their commitment to National Sport Day.

To celebrate the partnership and highlight the importance of the Educate A Child (EAC) programme, all attendees proudly wore specially designed t-shirts for the event, displaying Ahlibank and EAC’s logos. Ahlibank employees made personal donations to the EAC, which were matched by the bank.

The first event held on Saturday 7th February, was a family sports day where nearly 400 Ahlibank and EAA employees  participated in a range of activities including football, basketball, tug of war and table tennis with their families,. Younger children enjoyed a designated area with supervised games including face painting and balloon bending.

The second event was the traditional Qatar Central Bank (QCB) 3K run for employees of financial institutions which took place on Tuesday 10th February, where a record number of 128 Ahlibank staff participated.

Ahlibank’s Chief Executive Officer Salah Murad, said: “ I am absolutely delighted that nearly 400 colleagues and family members from both Ahlibank and Education Above All  Foundation were able to recognise the noble theme of the foundation’s Educate A Child  programme and come together to enjoy so many sports related activities to mark the start of 2015 National Sport Day celebrations on Saturday 7th February”

Salah added “ A few days later, on 10th February, I was very proud to witness the highest ever turnout by Ahlibank colleagues at the annual QCB run, where 1 in 3 colleagues ran in Ahlibank and EAA jointly branded t-shirts to promote such a worthy cause. They all ran or walked with pride and commitment whilst being cheered on by their families and friends from both organizations”

Education Above All’s, Chief Executive Officer Marcio Barbosa said:

"We are delighted to have participated in these two joint events with our partner Ahlibank, and are grateful for the donations made by Ahlibank employees and the bank itself. In addition to contributing to our education projects worldwide which aim to reach 10 million out of school children by 2016, we hope that these events will raise the awareness among employees and their families of the issues addressed by EAA."
